Our top 5 Baby books!

My little one has always enjoyed a book. From very early stages she was listening intently to my reading and voice. Now she is 10 months shes loving them even more, shes now able to interact and play with the books which she loves ( although turning the pages whilst shes got grip can be a struggle) We've always liked to make sure that books are a key part of her childhood and development and have had lots of fun buying new books as she grows. We like to make sure little one has a story before bed, and has become a big part of her bedtime routine. I thought I would share our top 5 favourite baby books for her age range, although any aged child could listen happily to them!

Kipper
By Mick Inkpen

At little ones christening, we very kindly got an array of lovely books, some of these being the kipper collection. She loves all these stories, they have amazing large pictures that keeps her interested, despite the books being slightly longer. Our favourite book is the original Kipper book, all about kippers basket and finding a nice place to sleep, a nice story for bed time! These books have a lovely story line to them which makes them a bit more enjoyable for me to read, as well as being nostalgic as I had them as a child too!

'Kippers basket is old and worn. His blanket is smelly and disgutsing! But can kipper find a better place to sleep?'

Five Minuets peace
By Jill Murphy

This is another lovely read for you parents being so relatable,  as a child I also used to read about the Large family of elephants and find it very comical to now read it being a parent! This book is all about the mother elephant who just wants 5 minuets peace, but struggles to find it having 3 young children. This book is what i like to call a 'quick page turner' which I love for little one as there is not much writing on one page so she has often got something new to look at. A lovely book for you mummy's!

'Mrs Large just wants a few minuets peace and quiet in her hot, foamy, ever so bubbly bubble bath. But Lester, Laura and the baby being as bouncy and boisterous as ever, Mum finds her peace to be very short lived!'

One Ted falls out of bed
By Julia Donaldson

This book is a lovely one for development, its is full of numbers and really good for older children learning to count. It is written by the same author as the Gruffalo book and has that same lovely rhyming to it. I cant tell you how many times we've read this, we sometimes find ourselves forgetting to turn the page and reciting the book because we know it off by heart! Its got amazing big pictures and a lovely story about toys, perfect for an after bath read!

'One Ted falls out of bed. How will he ever get back in? Count with Ted from one to ten as he goes on an amazing night-time adventure.'

The Thingamabob
By Il Sung Na

This book is a bit like marmite, I know some love reading it, and some not so much. But i love it! The story line is so simple and amazing for small babies or children just getting into reading. The book is about an elephant who finds an umbrella and doesn't know what its use is, but he finds out by experimenting with it. Great to spark little ones curiosity! This is a book start book, and is lovely for babies being a hardback, no teeth can get through and no pages can rip! A lovely little book that we've had since day one.

'One day he found the thingamabob. He did not know what it was, so he decided to find out!'

Daddy Pig's Words of Wisdom
A Peppa pig story

This book is hysterically funny, it is stated to be a book of 'Top tips for daddies' And is just as enjoyable for mums to read too. It is a new book to little ones collection, but is just as loved as the others! Its all about the different skills you need to be a daddy, and how somethings don't quite go to plan. Little ones daddy loves this book and I think finds it quite relatable. Its a nice day time read for baby if you need a little pick me up, or a little giggle before bed! A great one for you families with Peppa lovers. We also have some other funny Peppa pig books which we love too!

'Daddy pig is an expert at being a daddy. Learn how it's done from the best daddy in the world!'

I hope this has given some of you some new ideas on what books to buy next, and add some great new additions to your little ones collection. I like to buy books which are just as enjoyable for me, so i want to read them to her, and there are some great ones out there! It was really hard to pick just 5, but I hope you enjoyed.
